If you're looking for a place to do your grocery shopping, have a meal or a snack, meet friends, and park free of charge, then visit this community shopping centre on Rivonia Road directly opposite Alon Road (Forsdicks BMW).

There's a Woolworths Food downstairs alongside Clicks, and the big new Food Lovers Market on the upper level.  Vasilis Restaurant is very popular, and the smaller food outlets on the lower level (Kauai Juice, Minamoto Japanese, and Kong Tai Chinese Restaurant) add variety.  Mr Price has a block all to itself at upper left for homeware and cheap clothing.

Open air parking is free and plentiful on three levels, but at a premium outside Food Lovers Market.

In mid-2011 the Wedge had a rebranding exercise and a new logo, and a bit of a spruce-up.  For some reason they pulled out the palm trees, so now there is even less shade.

Why is it called the Wedge?

The simple reason is that it's on a wedge-shaped stand.  The more sinister explanation is that this rezoning was the "thin end of the wedge" of commercial development in this residential area, long fought-against by residents, but eventually lost to a city council greedy for extra income.
