The Bridge is the only shopping centre in Buccleuch. It has remained unchanged for years, serving the basic needs of this community that is separated from the rest of Sandton by the M1 Motorway and Frankenwald, and itself split by the Jukskei River and the N3 highway. The Bridge was named for the nearby bridge where Buccleuch Drive crosses the Jukskei, but could now also be named for the adjacent flyover of the N3 over Buccleuch Drive!

This people-sized centre has a hardware shop, a doctor and a dentist, two restaurants (pizza and curry, best not mixed!), most ATMs (but no banks), post boxes (but no post office), Video hire, spice shop, Internet Café, two hairdressers (one of which also does some massage) at prices we have not seen for years, a launderette, a pharmacy, Real Estate agent, a substantial KwikSpar, and Spar Tops bottle store.  Upstairs there is a preschool and a Chinese Martial Arts centre that doubles as a Weigh-Less venue. Finally, there's a skin clinic.  Opposite, you can fill up at the Caltex Garage.

Parking: There are open-air parking bays, all free of charge, with a few trees for shade.  Centre security will watch your car at peak times, but if you fall foul of the current spate of car-remote jammers, the Buccleuch satellite Police Station is close by...

Trading Hours: Mainly Monday to Friday: 09:00 – 17:00 and Saturday: 09:00 – 13:00.  Some shops open for longer hours, Sundays and Public Holidays.

GPS Coordinates: -26.05758, 28.10321. Directions: From the M1 Motorway northbound, take exit 29 for the R55 toward Woodmead Drive.  At the top of the off ramp, turn right onto Woodmead Drive (R55).  Cross the Motorway.  At the traffic lights (T-junction) turn left onto Pretoria Main Rd (R101).  At the next lights (about 550 m), turn right into Gibson Drive West.  After 600 m, at the traffic circle, take the 1st exit left onto Buccleuch Drive.  The Centre will be about 550 m further on the right.
